The San Francisco Global Vietnamese Film Festival was founded in 2010 with the purpose of showcasing the cinema of Vietnamese filmmakers. Our biennial festival brings local and international Vietnamese films to the big screen in the Bay Area, a international vision reflecting a transnational reality and identity for Vietnamese communities around the world.
As our mission, the San Francisco Global Vietnamese Film Festival aims to—
:: foster a love and appreciation for the art of cinema in all forms
:: inspire and nurture a Bay Area audience for Vietnamese cinema
:: encourage the work of local and international Vietnamese filmmakers
:: sustain dialogues between filmmakers, casts, crews, and their audiences
:: strengthen ties across Vietnamese communities in and beyond the Bay Area
:: increase the understanding of contemporary Vietnamese histories and identities, in and beyond the Bay Area
:: enrich the cultural vitality and diversity of San Francisco
